Rhode Island Blood Center Scheduled to Visit The Cedars

On Wednesday, August 9th, from 3p-6p The Cedars Home Care Team will be sponsoring a Blood Drive event at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre 125 Scituate Ave Cranston, RI 02921 in honor of Becky Albert who recently lost a courageous battle with a rare form of Colorectal Cancer leaving her husband Doug and two children, Luke and Connor. Please Join us for this great cause! Show your Support on Facebook Here

Traditionally, donating blood means giving one pint of whole blood that can be used to help up to three people. With state of the art technology that is safe and comfortable, you can also give just the component of blood (red cells, platelets, or plasma) that patients need the most based on your specific blood type! Each time, no matter what the donation, you give someone else a second chance at life. You can help save as much as three lives. RIBC.org

Becky Albert remains close to our hearts here at The Cedars. On August 9th, we celebrate her life with our blood drive by giving the gift of life to others.

A Statement from Doug Albert, Becky’s Husband:

“Becky Albert lived her life with everyone else coming first. She was dedicated to helping children with special needs and could be counted on whenever anyone needed some extra attention.  If you asked for a minute she would happily give and hour.  Her smile and lightness is what carried her through life. Becky was diagnosed in March of 2016 with a rare and aggressive form of colorectal cancer.  Throughout her treatments including; 30 chemotherapy infusions, radiation, a liver resection, a radio embolism, immunotherapy and countless scans and tests, Becky received blood transfusions.  They made her not only live longer but also have more quality days with her family and friends.” ~ Doug Albert
