Attention All Visitors
For the safety of
our patients and residents, we are limiting
visitors to immediate family during this current
cold and flue season.
We
also request that no children under the age of
thirteen (13) visit at this time.
Thank you for your
cooperation with this very important matter.
Infection Control
Handwashing is
the most important thing you can do to prevent
the spread of infection.
Follow CDC
guidelines when washing your hands:
- Wet hands
with warm water
- Lather up
both hands with soap
- Scrub
hands for at least 20 seconds
- Rinse
hands thoroughly
- Dry hands
with a clean towel
Always wash
your hands:
- After
coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose
- After
using the bathroom
- Before
and after preparing food
- Before
and after contact with someone who is
sick
- After
touching an animal or animal waste
- After
household chores or yard work

Encourage residents and visitors to
follow the same hand hygiene.
Other
ways to help fight infections:

Follow facility policies during
seasonal outbreaks

Don’t come to work sick
-
Don’t visit other units
unnecessarily

Don’t allow residents who are sick
to visit with each other

Don’t allow visitors if they are
sick
-
Keep your environment clean. Pay
special attention to doorknobs,
handrails, faucets, etc.

Monitor all residents closely for
signs of infection and report these
to your nurse immediately.

Adhere to policies that are in place
to prevent outbreaks. These include
food safety programs, immunization
programs, and isolation practices
that include all staff, residents
and visitors.

Standard Precautions: gloves,
gowns, masks should be used when
exposure to body fluids, blood,
secretions or excretions is
anticipated.

Always wear gloves when entering a
precaution room, remove and wash
hands before leaving the room

Contact Precautions: gloves,
gowns, must be used with all
residents with known or suspected
resistant infection.

Droplet Precautions: In
addition to contact precautions,
masks should be worn if you come
within three feet of the resident.
Resident should wear a mask if
leaving the room.
