The following are some of the more frequently asked questions that we receive about The Cedars. While we hope that the following is useful information for you, please don't hesitate to contact us with other questions you may have: e-mail us at info@cedarsliving.com or call 401-944-8500. We look forward to speaking with you.

  • What is The Cedars?

The Cedars is a 20-acre campus conveniently located in Western Cranston, Rhode Island and includes Cedar Crest Subacute & Rehabilitation Centre and the future Cedar Hill Retirement Resort and Cedar Point Assisted Living. Our mission is to offer a total continuum of healthcare services and senior living options in a single location - independent living, assisted living, nursing care, & rehabilitation care and services. This will provide our residents with peace-of-mind knowing that should their needs change, they do not need to move.

  • Is there a Waiting List?

Cedar Crest Subacute & Rehabilitation Centre has a continual flow of new patient arrivals from area hospitals - admitting and discharging back to home over 1000 people each year. Our Special Care unit called Generations (for residents with Alzheimer's disease or other memory impairment) does have a waiting list. For information, call our Admissions Director at 401-944-8500.

Cedar Hill Retirement Resort and Cedar Point Assisted Living Centre are in the pre-construction phase of marketing. While we prepare to for future ground breaking, we are developing a waiting list of prospective residents. Specific apartments can be secured for future residency with a refundable deposit. For information, please call our Director of Marketing at 401-944-2100.

  • What should I consider when selecting a retirement community?

One of the most common objections we hear from people considering a move to a retirement community is "I'm not ready yet". While it is true that moving from a home you've lived in for years can be daunting, we intend to make your move to Cedar Hill as stress free as possible, with services ranging from real estate and financial counsel, move-in coordination and interior decorating. Cedar Hill Retirement Resort was carefully designed with a goal to create a very special place with services and amenities so wonderful, so exciting and so invigorating that you wished you had made the move even sooner.

Another common objection is "We can't afford it." Cedar Hill was also designed to reduce your financial risks by creating a single predictable, affordable monthly fee that includes most of your regular expenses plus many other benefits including wellness management, housekeeping, meal allowance, and discounted health center fees. The entrance fee structure of Cedar Hill protects your estate by providing a guaranteed return of either 90% or 75% of your original amount paid, depending on the plan you select.

  • Will I be able move to Cedar Point Assisted Living Centre even if I never lived at Cedar Hill Retirement Resort?

Yes. Residents of Cedar Hill will be able to receive many health care services in their own home or they can move to a new apartment at Cedar Point. People from the community-at-large will be able to move directly from their home outside The Cedars to an assisted living apartment at Cedar Point and pay a monthly fee for services.

  • What is a subacute & rehabilitation center?

Unlike a care nursing home where people move-in to receive long-term care, Cedar Crest Subacute & Rehabilitation has transformed our services to focus on short-term, transitional care. The Cedar Crest Subacute & Rehabilitation program was designed for patients with physical, medical and cognitive impairments who would benefit from an interdisciplinary approach. The patients most appropriate for this program are those whose diagnoses are orthopedic conditions, stroke, neurological disorders, or those who have experienced general weakness or deconditioning following surgery or an illness.

  • At Cedar Crest Subacute & Rehabilitation Centre, what is the process for me to go home?

As soon as a patient is admitted to Cedar Crest, we begin to plan for their discharge back home. Our individually tailored therapy and rehabilitation program focuses on maximizing the level of independence for our patients. Therefore, our comprehensive approach to care planning includes home evaluation, patient and family education, and coordination of home care services after discharge.

  • Can I have visitors at The Cedars?

Visitors are always welcome at The Cedars. At Cedar Crest Subacute & Rehabilitation Centre family and friends are welcome anytime, but are encouraged to visit between the hours of 1 pm and 7 pm.

When Cedar Hill Retirement Resort is open, we are assuming that our wonderful community of exciting programs and amenities will make it difficult for you to keep your family and friends from becoming frequent guests. From an early morning tennis match to cocktails in the Rendezvous Bar & Grille, you will have plenty of opportunity to entertain. Your home at Cedar Hill will be just that - your home. You will be able have guests (grandchildren included!) for overnight stays.
